The QAnon Anonymous podcast covers conspiracy theories. I’m new to the podcast but I found ‘Episode 234: Jacob Chansley, America’s Shaman’ was a good primer on the guy with the bison-horned headdress who stormed the Capitol on January 6.
The Wages of Fear (1953) is a French thriller directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot. I found this film via Kanopy, a free streaming service accessible through library memberships. Kanopy has an awesome Classic Cinema selection. (It includes my favourite movie of all time Tokyo Story (1953), directed by Yasujiro Ozu.) The other night I watched Suddenly (1954), a weird movie starring Frank Sinatra as a psychopath. It was better than Netflix. I think the early 1950s is when my favourite movies were made. I’m not sure why. The dialogue and the countercultural messages maybe. And Robert Mitchum.
The Years Thunder By (2020) is an honest account about a person sailing solo from England to Australia aboard a 26ft boat. The writing is clean like Thoreau. At times bitingly funny, Jaffe’s book makes you question your life decisions. It encouraged me to veer off course toward more interesting concepts and experiences.
